We understand that it can be difficult for families to begin medication management, but many children find progress difficult for reasons out of their control. At Mini Minds, we believe in providing a clear understanding of how medication can fit into your family’s treatment plans.
Some therapists have to refer out when a client is in need of medication, has questions about medication options, or needs to coordinate therapy with doctor recommendations. Here at Mini Minds, we have the privilege of having our
medication specialist and prescriber IN-HOUSE! With our Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and Certified Primary Mental Health Specialist, Melissa Winters, MS, BSN, RN, CPNP-PMHS, we are not only able to assess and diagnose behavioral, developmental, and emotional difficulties, but we are able to coordinate care with your child’s Mini Minds therapists to provide a WHOLE CHILD action plan and consistent follow-up with our trusted team of brain and body experts.
No two children are the same and providing the best care for your child means tailoring a plan for your child’s specific needs, educating your family on medication options, and monitoring your child for responses to treatment. We work as a team to assess and address each patient, individually, and provide a framework for success.
By having a medication specialist in-house, who works with our other providers, we are able to offer our clients dross-disciplinary treatment that is more effective and efficient. We are also able to order labs and other pertinent tests. Having our team of experts under one roof ensures the families at Mini Minds can talk with people they trust about medication, while being empowered to be an active part of their child’s treatment and growth. We provide parents with the language to observe and report on behaviors and responses to medication, so that our team can partner with them to ensure success. When families have needs, we don’t have to refer out to get the medication information or prescriptions to help. We provide it all!
